Scheme on ‘Sub-Mission on Polytechnics under the Coordinated Action for Skill Development’ has been approved by the MHRD, Govt. of India. One of the components of the said Scheme is for implementation of the Scheme of ‘Community Development Through Polytechnics (CDTP)’. Under this component, it is proposed to provide non-formal skill development training to rural as well as disadvantaged sections of the community including the unemployed, school drop-outs, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Minorities, Women and Physically Challenged etc.

Main Objectives

  • To carry out Need Assessment Surveys to assess the technology and training needs.
  • To impart Skill Development Training to the intended target groups.
  • To disseminate Appropriate Technologies for productivity enhancement.
  • To provide Technical Support services to rural masses and slum dwellers.
  • To create awareness among the target groups about technological advancement and contemporary issues importance.

This polytechnic has a Training & Placement Cell which is headed by Dr. Rajesh Sharma (H.O.D. Comp.Engg.). In every academic year, there is 70 - 80 % placement of passed students in various Industries / Organisations / Service Centres in Govt. & Private Sector.
The library has also a separate book bank for SC students. The SC students benefited through this Book Bank and extra coaching classes.


Placement Details

The academic committee plays a prominent role in representing the students and works towards ensuring that students' interests and queries are raised with the concerned authorities.
The Academic Committee also serves as a vital link between the student body and the faculty. The committee contributes towards the smooth functioning of the academic system and ensures timely resolution of all relevant issues raised by the student community. The academic committee takes up the responsibility of imbibing best practices so that both the present and future batches can have a better academic system in place. The academic committee also holds the responsibility for practices like holding academic award functions to honour students for academic excellence.

Ragging, inside/outside the institution, is an offence. As per the Himachal Pradesh Educational Institution (Prohibition of Ragging) Act 2009, every offence under this Act shall be cognizable, non-bailable and compoundable with the permission of court. If any student is found indulging in ragging activities directly or indirectly, strict action will be taken against him/her as per law.


The Institute's mission encourages students to explore to advance knowledge at the highest level. It also expects its students to uphold the highest standards of respect, integrity, and civility. With this context, the Discipline Committee was created to resolve complaints of alleged violations of policies and/or community standards by a student, former student, or student organization in a way that is objective and educational, not legalistic or adversarial.
The Discipline Committee is responsible for resolving complaints against students and student organizations and to decide the appropriate Institute response. The procedure that the Discipline Committee uses to hear and respond to such complaints as per Rules and Regulations. These procedures are designed to ensure equity and fairness to the complainant and the accused.
Students who engage in academic misconduct or violate the standards of the College community in other ways may be brought before the College’s Disciplinary Committee. If students are found guilty of misconduct, the disciplinary committee has the right to impose sanctions ranging from probation to suspension or expulsion.
